Exxonmobil burns off excess fuel in Jurong Island, Singapore

Thursday, November 23, 2006

As of 9 am this morning, flaring is still being carried out by ExxonMobil at Jurong Island, Singapore.

This is the 3rd day flaring works are being carried out by the company to burn off excess fuel from the refinery plant.

The flame, according to Ms Eva Ho, Communications Manager of ExxonMobil, is dying. ExxonMobil wishes to assure members of the public that no health risk is posed as water and carbon dioxide are produced as a result of the flaring.

Meng Yew Choong, Assistant Director of Corporate Communication at the National Environment Agency also clarifies:

“The hydrocarbon gases are burnt safely into water vapour and carbon dioxide, both harmless gases. Hence, there are no health concerns.”

Regular STOMP contributor Mike Muk shot a video of the flaring as well and he sent it in to Stomp.

STOMPer NZSheep also sent a picture to a website, offering the closest look of the flaring activity, taken just outside the security fences surrounding Jurong Island.

Child Education

Toys For Kids

Toys for Kids by Soophott LertFor children, the most important part of they childhood is undoubtedly getting the chance to play with their toys. Kids toys are a major part of the world’s economy and are extremely popular in modern culture and in the media. Such toys include LEGOS, building blocks, Barbies, Bratz dolls and board games. Toys such as blocks and LEGOS provide a great way for your child to pass the time and have fun at the same time. Dolls such as Barbie and Bratz offer young girls a great way to have fun and socialize with other young girls. If kids didn’t have toys to play with, being a kid would be a lot more boring.Kids toys are also a major part of the world’s economy. The popular toy store “Toys R Us”, reported revenue of 13 billion in 2007. Obviously, kids toys are great for business too. Toys R Us offers just about every kind of toy your child would wish for. They have been in business for over 60 years and remain one of the biggest names in the toy market. Toys don’t have to be the traditional ones that you might think of either. Some of the funnest games that kids like to play are electronic. Not only are these games more compact and easier to put away, they often tie in some sort of educational opportunity for your child. For example, if the game involves something to do with numbers and shapes, it will aide your child in counting and shape recognition.Kids toys don’t always have to be actual “toys” as one might think in the traditional sense. They can also be things like teddy bears, blankets and dolls that hold sentimental value to your child. A toy like a bear doesn’t hold much use or educational value if you’re an adult, but for a child, this bear can be a comfort when they are sad, or in a time of need. A blanket that your child was given at birth may serve the same purpose as the teddy bear, in addition to keeping them warm at night. Some other forms of toys include ones that are used primarily outside. These include trampolines and blow-up playhouses. Some parents might object to trampolines because they think they are dangerous. This could be true if you’re an irresponsible parent and don’t take the necessary precautions which include supervising your children and putting up netting around the edge so they can’t fall off. Blowup playhouses are great for children who love the outdoors but have trouble thinking of things to do. They can be deflated and stored in a tight space for convenience. If you are the parent of an older child, some good kids toys that you could get them are iPods and similar MP3 players. Music offers a great way for your teen to spend some time and get away from it all for a little while. Be sure you monitor what music they are listening to as some of it can be pretty nasty. If you want to find out more about Toddler Toy , please visit Toys by age Website for more informationArticle Source: eArticlesOnline.com

CNN headquarters infected with computer worm, exaggerates global threat

Tuesday, August 16, 2005

CNN television news gave extensive coverage starting around 5:30 PM EST today to a new computer virus, a worm dubbed rbot.cbq. Its reporting suggested that it had the potential to become one of the most virulent and costly yet seen. This story was unique among cyber-attacks reports as the network apparently learned of the virus through becoming one of its early victims. Media organizations ABC and the New York Times were affected as well. Perhaps first-hand experience gave the studio more insight on the virus while providing an early notice. The coverage that followed, however, raises concerns that the network’s perspective was skewed, and that perhaps the damage even diminished its reporting ability.

CNN treated the story as a potential global crisis in its manner of coverage as well as in the advice given to viewers. For over 45 minutes, by one viewer’s tally, CNN devoted exclusive air-time to this topic. Home users were advised to turn off their computers for safety, while businesses were warned that if continued operations prevented this measure, they were at high risk. CNN.com sported a bold red headline above its usual content area, warning of the virus. CNN stated they were requesting reports from key sources across the nation, including California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

After some time, the network eventually obtained a Microsoft statement describing the virus as “low-impact” and only affecting computers running Windows 2000. CNN also learned from Microsoft that there was a patch available at Microsoft’s web site. CNN’s coverage contrasted with a lack of actual evidence of widespread infections, in this reporter’s view. Much of the discussion and advice came from experts probably not officially associated with CNN, so there is a question of who is at fault.

Chris Carboni of the Internet Storm Center speculated that “The fact that CNN, ABC and the NYTimes got it may be as simple as reporters from these organizations visiting the same event and connecting to an infected network. While a firewall may have protected their office network up to now, these infected laptops were able to take out the network from the inside once they connected back to it.”

In no particular order, the top three acts were revealed to be two dancers known by their stage name of Twist and Pulse, gymnastic group Spelbound and Kieran Gaffney, whose act involves playing on the drum kit. After Kieran Gaffney was revealed to be in third place, Anthony McPartlin, who hosts Britain’s Got Talent with Declan Donnelly, said to Kieran: “Well done Kieran. Kieran, you’re a star, you came back, you got all the way to the final. I know you’ve loved this. You’ve loved this, haven’t you?” In response to this, Kieran Gaffney stated: “Thank you very much. Thank you, everyone for supporting me. Thank you.”

Shortly afterwards, on the episode that was broadcast live on ITV1 on Saturday, Anthony announced: “After tens of thousands of auditons, five semi-finals and an amazing final, this…this is it. One of you is about to walk away with £100,000 and a place at this year’s Royal Variety Performance. The winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2010 is…Spelbound!” Glen Murphy from Twist and Pulse commented about finishing in second place, stating: “Yeah, it’s amazing. I can’t even believe it. It just shows that all our hard work has paid off.” One of the coaches of Spelbound, named Neil Griffiths, stated about Spelbound: “Oh, they’ve worked so hard over the last few weeks. Um, since the semi-final, we…we really had to pull out the stops to try and up the game. They’ve not known they’ve worked in the gym from six in the morning till twelve…twelve o’clock of the night. I couldn’t have asked for more. Um, it’s a team of coaches. I don’t take all the credit myself. There’s, uh, two people up there that know who they are who’ve been fantastic.”

The running order for the final started with Twist and Pulse. The second act to perform was Liam McNally, a 14-year-old singer. The running order subsequently continued with 40-year-old impressionist Paul Burling, singer Christopher Stone, aged 28, Tina & Chandi, a woman and dog dancing act, Connected, a five-piece singing group, Kieran Gaffney, aged 12, 22-year-old Tobias Mead, a dancer, 80-year-old singer Janey Cutler and Spelbound in that particular order.

Earlier on in the final, Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has stated to Spelbound: “We are hosting the 2012 Olympics and I think ‘what a brilliant opening act’.” Fellow judge Piers Morgan also commented that “[t]he purpose of this show is to identify hidden great British talent. You are that act.” After Spelbound won in the final, another judge, named Simon Cowell, stated that “the right boys and girls won on the night” and that he could “only say on live TV that that was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen. Seriously.”

Information About An Overweight Truck Permit Florida

byAlma Abell

There are several different permits that a commercial trucker may be required to acquire for his vehicle. There are rules governing truck lengths, and for trucks that are too long an Excess Length Permit may be required. Similarly, a permit may be required for trucks that have excessive weight and/or excessive dimensions which may be better known as oversize and/or overweight trucks. Then there are single trip permits, fuel permits, hauling permits, and the list goes on. When applying for a permit you should know the total dimensions and the gross weight of the truck plus its load along with the weight for each axle and the distance between axles. Your route from beginning to end is usually required.

If you need an Overweight Truck Permit Florida, you can get it from a company such as Coast 2 Coast Trucking Permits LLC. A good permit company can take care of all your permit needs for each state. However, there are certain Federal requirements for interstate highways and other Federal highways. Maximum weights include a gross vehicle weight of 80,000 pounds with a single axle weight of 20,000 pounds and a tandem axle weight of 34,000 pounds. No Federal requirement exists for height or length. Still, there is a weight formula that trucks must comply with if they wish to cross a Federal bridge. You will need to know how many axles you have and their spacing so that you can plug these values into the Federal bridge formula.

If you are moving overweight freight through Florida, you will need an Overweight Truck Permit Florida. Legal limits in Florida are a little different from the Federal limits. The gross weight of 80,000 pounds is the same, but the single axle weight of 22,000 pounds is higher as is the tandem axle weight of 44,000 pounds. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) office in Florida has an enforcement program that was established to protect the system of highways from overweight vehicle damage. CVE officers perform weighings of commercial vehicles at 20 weigh stations throughout the state. They also conduct mobile enforcement by using portable scales. The average fine for illegal transporting is about 500 dollars while the cost of a permit is usually less than 40 dollars. Plus it is relatively easy to get a permit. You can fill out an application online and minutes later your permit is faxed or emailed to you. Visit website for more details.

Three dead infants found in Canadian home

Thursday, June 11, 2009

The remains of three children were discovered in a bucket at a home at 1302 Sandford Street in London, Ontario in Canada on Saturday, June 6, 2009. The bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, so much so that it was originally thought to be a single corpse until further investigation revealed that it was actually the remains of three children.

“He came outside and told everybody he discovered this bucket,” a neighbour of the resident who discovered the remains, told CBC News. “He said his girlfriend had this bucket for two years with gardening stuff in it, and he opened it on Saturday, and it was [filled with] bloody clothes and a blanket, and he called the police.”

“Due to the decomposition it was difficult to see that there was more than one there. The bodies have been decomposing, it could be over a number of years,” said London Police Detective-Superintendent Ken Heslop, “We won’t know anything until, I’m hoping, Thursday or Friday, depending on how long the examinations take.”

Jennifer Sinn, 32, a former resident of the building has been charged with concealing a child’s body and offering an indignity to a dead human body. Neighbours have described her as a recluse staying to herself with parents delivering meals to her. Neighbours have also come forward saying that a young child about one year old has not been seen for awhile and that there had also been two older children. Police are seeking any further information in the case.

There is no report of charges against the man who called the police to report the bodies, who is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of Sinn, who is charged with the crime. Reportedly, she had moved out of the building two weeks prior to the discovery of the bodies.

The London police are following up with local police at various locations where the young lady had resided before.

The provincial forensic pathology unit in Toronto, Ontario will undertake the full autopsies.

Constable Amy Phillipo said, “The investigation into the cause and manner of death of the three infants is continuing.”

Wedding Shopping How To Buy A Necklace}

Submitted by: Trevor Richards

The bridal wedding necklace helps complete the overall look of the bride. It can enhance or change the look of the wedding gown. The bride has a number of wedding necklace options available. Choosing just one may prove to be a dilemma to her. Here are some tips to help you choose a suitable wedding necklace:

1. Consider the neckline. The neckline of the wedding gown will determine to a huge extent the kind of necklace you should wear. The necklace maybe expensive and beautiful but if it does not go well with the neckline of the dress, the result may not be so dramatic. It can even be disastrous. This is why, it is important to choose a necklace that fits the dress neckline.

Take for instance, a strapless gown. It is easy to find a suitable necklace for this gown. However, the necklace must not be too long to cover the design of the gown. Any necklace below 18 inches will do. Most gown neckline designs will go well with a choker or a princess necklace. Generally, gowns with low neckline require necklaces about 3 to 4 inches in length. Gowns with higher necklines may need a longer necklace.

2. Gown Details. Another factor to look into when choosing a wedding necklace is the gown detail. If the gown is filled with beads, pearls and patterns on the chest area, it will be a good idea to skip the necklace altogether.

The design on the gown is meant to be center of attention. Adding a necklace to an already crowded neckline may defeat the purpose. It will only disrupt the natural flow of the design.

On the other hand, if the bust part of the dress is bare. For instance, the dramatic design of the dress is on its train then you need to go all out on the necklace. It will be a good idea to get a good idea to find a necklace that is eye-catching. The more dramatic the necklace, the better it will be.

3. Compliment the Dress. Find a necklace that matches the overall look of the dress. If your dress has pearl beadwork on them then a pearl necklace will make sense. If your dress is made of dazzling silver-colored gemstones, wearing a gold necklace might seem out of place. The rest of the jewelry you wear must also complement the necklace. A pearl bracelet will not complement a silver necklace. The jewelry pieces must have similar styles and metal finishes.

In most cases, pear is the most obvious choice. It is a safe choice since it goes well with almost any dress design. Elaborate pearl designs often look good in a wedding dress. Some utilizes colored pearls such as green, pink or gold pearls to go with the color motif.

4. Season. The season will also influence to a certain extent the kind of necklace you will wear. Most brides choose crystal necklaces for summer weddings. For those marrying in the winter, a sparkling necklace such as a pearl choker will do.

California releases search warrant for Wells Fargo bank on identity theft

Saturday, October 22, 2016

The California Department of Justice on Wednesday released the warrant and affidavit of a criminal investigation of the Wells Fargo bank. The State of California served the warrant on October 5 to search the San Francisco headquarters of Wells Fargo for felonious activities related to identity theft.

The warrant said property to be seized at the bank’s San Francisco headquarters was related to the unauthorized creation of accounts by Wells Fargo employees including the names of individuals for the accounts; account information and fees; the names of employees and their managers who created accounts without the consent of the Wells Fargo customers in question; and all communications including emails referencing the unauthorised accounts.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris’s criminal probe is part of an increasing list of officials nationwide questioning the business practices of Wells Fargo such as California State Treasurer John Chiang who announced a one-year suspension of State investment with the bank on September 28; Illinois State Treasurer Mike Frerichs followed suit with a year-long ban on October 3; and Democratic United States Senators Bob Menendez of New Jersey, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, who wrote to the U.S. Security Exchanges Commission (SEC) suggesting investigation on September 29.
